The Light Blue Room is older infant room designed for babies 1 to 2 years old. The room is led by Ms. Courtnie with a Reggio-Emilla inspired philosophy. This classroom focuses on community and building independence through experience. Just like our Yellow Room, every child in the Light Blue Room is assigned a primary caregiver.
This classroom is an active learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and discover. Teachers provide a warm and loving space that supports the growth and development of young children. Opportunities are provided for children to develop skills such as: social/emotional, language, cognitive, independence, imagination, fine/gross motor and general life skills.
Young children learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, tasting, seeing, and hearing. Materials are provided for children to explore and express their creativity. We encourage parents and teachers to work together to create the best possible experience for the children.
The Light Blue Room is designed with multiple play areas to encourage growth through experiences and play. Because the philosophy focuses on using materials and toys that are natural and real life inspired, this classroom reflects just that. Ms. Courtnie spends time picking materials that encourage divergent thinking and curiosity. Some of the play areas are a teepee in the classroom for reading books and relaxing, a kitchen area stocked with pretend and real life items, and a gross motor area for climbing.
