Green Room


This room is our center’s two-year-old room! The Green Room is led by Ms. Allison, who has a deep understanding of the social-emotional development that occurs at with this age group.

This age group has such a desire to absorb so much new information. We work on building their independence and need to complete a task on their own. I believe children learn through hands-on experiences, by manipulating objects and using their creativity while playing. We also incorporate their interests into the group activities including art and sensory.


The Green Room does daily lessons and activities every day. Ms. Allison strives to incorporate all the learning domains to support growth in every aspect of the child. We start the day with circle time which helps the children come together as a group to count and welcome everyone. The children also listen to a story and dance to songs during this time. During circle time we work on concepts including colors, counting, and animal characteristics.

Sensory and Free Play

Our Green Room embraces the desire toddlers have to explore through their five senses. Sensory play and activities are included in this classroom regularly because they stimulate toddler’s minds through exploration. Sensory opportunities such as painting, playdough, water play, and chalk are just a few of this classroom’s favorites. Free time also included throughout the day, this is where the children partake in pretend play by playing with toys that spark their interests. Child led play is important to development as children get real life practice with problem solving, build their independence, and stimulates creativity.

Potty Training

Children are introduced to using the potty in this classroom. We go over each step involved in going to the bathroom including sitting on the potty, using toilet paper, flushing the toilet, and proper hand washing. We support the child in learning each step of the process to encourage independence.

When starting potty training, first look out for signs of readiness, including wanting to sit on the potty all by themselves, recognizing when they have a wet or soiled diaper, or having control over the urge to go by staying dry for longer periods of time.

We understand that every child and family is different in their potty-training journey and that the child must be both physically and emotionally ready to potty train. Some may start with pull-ups when their child is showing signs of readiness in using the toilet, while others may choose to take a weekend/week to train straight to underwear all at once at home. We are here to support your child and figure out what works best for them.
